How Do I Make Sure the Shoe Fits? [ Feet Tips]

How Do I Make Sure the Shoe Fits?

Tips for happy feet

  • Allow adequate time to try on several pairs of shoes.
  • Put on both shoes and walk around the area for several minutes to assess comfort.
  • Wear the same type of socks that are worn when you are walking.
  • Shop later in the day, as feet tend to get slightly larger as the day progresses.
  • Bring orthotics (specially designed inserts for your shoes) if you wear them.
  • Check for at least 0.25 to 0.5 inch of space between yourlongesltoe and the end of the shoe.
  • The forefoot area of the shoe should be  comfortably snug but not so tight that lour foot feels squeezed from the sides, . and not so loose that your foot can slide forward in the shoe.
  • Ask a salesperson if you need a shoe in other widths. Shoes come in widths from A to 4E. Width B is the typical width for men.
  • Your heel should not slip up and down or rub excessively in the heel cup or back of the shoe.

Above all else, your shoes should feel comfortable right away and should not need to be "broken in."

Find the Right Shoe For You!

Find the Right Shoe For You!

by Fiona Vurnum

The wrong shoes can cause or aggravate problems with your feet, not to mention they can look incredibly uncomfortable. The right shoes can often help to prevent - but cannot correct - problems. So wearing the right shoes is not only vital for looking your best, but also for foot health. Here follow some guidelines.

Shoe Construction Leather is best because is breathes like skin and moulds to your foot. But a cheaper alternative would be a man-made material, with a similar look and feel of leather. Shoe soles should be strong but flexible with a good tread for grip. Insoles should be slightly soft or 'spongy' to reduce the jolts of walking on hard surfaces. Arch supports distribute weight over a wider area. Rigid shanks also give added support. High heels look fabulous, but bear in mind that they should not be worn for too long and are not ideal for walking. However, a good comfortable high heel, will give you superb posture.

A Good Fit Only you can tell if shoes fit. If they aren't comfortable, you're in the wrong size! Don't bet on shoes stretching with wear, that's simply a sales pitch from a shoe seller that does not have the size you need in stock! If you already own shoes that are too tight, sell them or pass them onto a charity and invest in a fabulous new pair. Because feet grow as you age, don't assume you will always be the same size, whenever you buy a new pair. Both feet are often different sizes. Always buy shoes for the BIGGEST foot or you risk cramping in those little toes! Go shoe shopping as late in the day as you can, feet are at their largest then. Size depends on shoe make, what they are made of and style, too. Don't assume you'll always be the same size. If the larger feels better, go with it. If they are smaller, they will never be comfortable. If they are slightly larger, insoles, heel grips and gel pads can be added to fill them out a little . To ensure maximum comfort, the toe area should be roomy enough so you can wiggle all your toes.

Remember: Good shoes are part of the good care your feet deserve. Look after your feet and they will look after you!

Arthritis, Diabetes and foot care!

Arthritis, Diabetes and foot care!

People with diabetes often have trouble . with their feet. These problems are not just painful, they can be dangerous!

Diabetes can damage your nerves. If this llappens, you might not feel hot, cold or pain in your feet. Little cuts or sores, if not cared for, can then become deeper and bigger sores called ulcers. This can be a very serious problem because diabetes can also cause poor blood flow in your legs. Without good blood flow, sores take longer to heal. If ulcers become infected, or foot tissue starts to die because of poor or no blood flow (gangrene), you may have to go to the hospital. In the worst cases, doctors may have to remove (amputate) toes, a foot or a leg.

Because diabetes may keep you from feeling foot problems, it is very important to:

  • look at your feet every day to check for things like cuts/ sores, ingrown or infected toenails, dry cracked skin or swelling
  • wear shoes that fit well so you don't get blisters, corns or bunions on your feet
  • ask your doctor to check your feet at each visit
Arthritis is a disease that affects joints. people with arthritis often suffer from sore people with arthritis often suffer from sore and swollen feet.

Your doctor can treat many of the foot problems that are caused by arthritis as well as suggest medicine to relieve the pain.
Your choice of shoe can do a lot to keep your feet as comfortable as possible.

For example, your shoes ,hould have:
  • high, wide space at the toe
  • rocker soles designed to reduce stress and pain atthe ball of the foot
  • laces that can be loosened if/when your feet swell

Last Tip
Stay on your feet!

Wearing shoes is your best protection from falls. Research shows that going shoeless indoors and out can increase your risk for falls up to 10%. Each year about one-third of seniors are hurt in falls. Their injuries include sprains and strains, broken bones or head trallma. In Canada, more than 5,000 seniors die from falls each year.

Man puts the shine on your shoes and your day [Interview]

Man puts the shine on your shoes and your day
By Stephanie Antonian Rutherford
The Enquirer

PORTAGE — Robert Copprue makes a lot of friends in high places — think top executives at Stryker and Kellogg Co. — while shining shoes at the Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International airport. He says he loves to tell his clients stories and make their days, and loafers, a little bit brighter.

How did you get started shining shoes?

"Well, a friend of mine had this here stand at the airport, and I starting shining there. Then he opened a new stand at the Radisson Hotel, so I took this one over. I've been doing this for seven years and I love every minute of it."

How do you get customers over to your stand?

"Well, you have to catch them when they walk. Say something to catch them. I like to say 'Sir, let me dress 'em up for you,' or 'Let the shoe shine man put a whoopin' on your shoes.' "

Ever have a really slow day?

"In the summer, it's very slow, and people are wearing a lot of sandals, not actual shoes. But in the winter, I stay real busy. People get all kinds of snow and salt and junk on their shoes, and they need sprucing up."

Why is it important to keep your shoes nice?

"In the business world, you have to look presentable. Even your feet. People notice your shoes."

I noticed you have a lot of different polishes; why is that?

"These are all different colors, you see. My most popular is black and dark brown for dress shoes. But I have blue, purples, reds — for the ladies shoes. I also have white, because I shine a lot of golf shoes."

How much is a good shine?

"Five dollars, plus I get tips. I do a real good job and get them looking like new.

I have to say, I love the money."

What's the best tip you've gotten?

"Well, one man sat in my booth, and you know when you can tell that something is wrong with someone just by the expression on their face? I could tell he had troubles. So, I started telling him some funny stories. Things that would be uplifting to him and got him to smile and start laughing.

"When I was done, he gave me a $20 tip and told me 'You have no idea how you just helped me. Thank you so much'. That made me feel real good, to know that I helped someone feel better about their problems."

So you are a shoe shiner and a therapist? Got any regular customers?

"Well, you know the Stryker CEO John Brown? He used to come every week to get a shoe shine. I guess he took a liking to me because he got me my own new shoe shine stand at the Stryker building, and now I shine shoes there every Monday."

Why do you love your job so much?

"I love meeting new people and I get to do that here everyday. I like to chat with them and tell them stories. I got lots of stories, and I like to hear other people's, too. I believe that everybody has something interesting about them. They all got their own story to tell."

Shoes To Improve Your Physical State And To Help You Relax

Shoes To Improve Your Physical State And To Help You Relax
By: Matt Garrett

What are mbt shoes?

Mbt shoes are specially designed to improve posture and to relax the muscles, and are often used for medical purposes, to relieve back pains and lower back aches. They can be used by anyone, and even athletes use them in their practices for power, speed, endurance, flexibility and injury prevention.

When should you use mbt shoes?

There are special exercises designed for mbt shoes, like the ones for coordination, core stability, speed and flexibility. Still, using them daily without any special training can do you a whole lot of good. You'll improve your posture and let your muscles work in a natural, unforced way. You'll also strengthen the muscles of your stomach and back. They can help during recovery periods after the injuries you sustain in tough competitions, working like a 'cooling down' device. They are designed to bring to minimum the risk of any kind of injury, by equalizing the muscle imbalances. By using mbt shoes for warm-ups you speed the circulation of blood in the lower extremities and release tension, so the joints will not hurt during practice.

Mbt shoes are a great way to lose weight

A natural way to walk provided by mbt shoes gives you a wider range of advantages too, including the toning of your muscles and loss of excess weight. Indeed, you can lose weight without effort and without risking your health. This is an unforced method to get in shape just by walking. After discovering the great experience of walking in mbt shoes, you will be more likely to take the stairs instead of the elevator or to walk to work instead of riding a car or bus. Thus you'll be forming a fine habit that will pay you dividends whether you use mbt shoes all the time or not.

The design of mbt shoes

Mbt shoes are designed using a unique and patented curved layered sole. Walking in mbt shoes is often compared to walking on sand, because like that exercise, they help to transmit and relieve the tension. Wherever we go, we walk only on flat and hard surfaces. Continued for a sufficiently long time, this will ultimately damage our posture and make the joints hurt. Mbt shoes are specially designed to make you use all your muscle groups, to help you burn calories efficiently and minimize this kind of harmful stress.

Further reasons for using mbt shoes

Mbt shoes are the only things that use gravity to help you stay fit and young. You can use them all day long, whatever you do and wherever you go and still feel good. You can skip all the special exercises and still lose weight, still tone up and strengthen your muscles as you work your way through the day in your mbt shoes. They don't force you to do anything, because they let your body work or rest in a natural way. Not only will you feel better and healthier, but also you will also look better because you will re-learn to walk in a more upright posture. You become stronger even while you are doing nothing more than just standing or gently jogging, because your muscles are working to keep you in a centered position all the time that you are in your mbt shoes.

How To Select The Right Shoes For Your Children

How To Select The Right Shoes For Your Children

By: Harald Anderson

It is pretty usual for children to go around in footies or in socks during their first months. At that age, shoes are merely a 'decoration' item because newborns or young babies never walk so they don't need any kind of support for their body and feet. Nevertheless, the minute kids begin to walk, generally quite a few months before or after they turn one, you must know what types of shoes your kid is going to wear. You may need to buy several pairs of new shoes for toddlers and preschoolers quite regularly, so you will probably begin to ask yourself lots of questions regarding your child's shoes.

Picking the right shoes for your kid is not easy. If you are about to buy shoes, you must ask 3 particular questions before buying. They are the following:

1. How does it fit?
2. How is it made?
3. Is the shoe appropriate for your kid's age?

Let's analyze every single question a bit more thoroughly.

1. How does it fit? - When you ask this, you must take into account the length, width and depth of the shoe and check this carefully once the shoe is fitting your child's foot. If you pick a shoe that is ill fitting, you may harm your child's feet. Your kid can have ingrown toenails, calluses and bunions. Also, try checking your child's 'growth spurts' because when kids grow, their feet grow too. It is advisable to buy new shoes for your child every 3 to 4 months, because it will keep the fit suitable for their feet. Bear in mind that shoes really needn't to be "broken in". When a shoe is not comfortable from the start, it means that is definitely not the right shoe for your kid.

2. How is it made? - Four distinctive parts form every shoe: upper part, insole, outer sole and heel. Children are usually quite active, so it is advisable that the upper part of the shoe is made of a strong but breathable material such as canvas or leather. (Try avoiding shoes that are made of plastic, especially at young ages!). Try picking a shoe which insole is made from an absorbent material. It is not actually necessary to have padded insoles or special arch support insoles at this age. The outer sole has to give flexibility, traction and cushioning to the shoe, but it shouldn't be bulky or sticky when your kid walks. Bulky, sticky outer soles can lead to unnecessary injury by making your child clumsy. Also, heels aren't really necessary at this age at all! Try picking shoes with flat soles; it will make it much easier for your kid to walk.

3. Is the shoe appropriate for your kid's age? - A pre-walking kid doesn't actually need shoes. Their feet just need footies and warm socks; they can even walk barefoot indoors. If you have a toddler and he is just learning to walk, he should wear shoes that have a smooth sole and a high top. Also, it must be made from materials that are light and breathable. These kinds of shoes stay on better and help avoiding falls. If you have a school-age kid, there is a great assortment of suitable shoes, such as tennis shoes, sandals and even hiking boots. If you have an older child, you just have to follow the first two questions and pick the best shoes for your kid.

Perfect Prom Shoes - Simple Tips On How To Find Them

Perfect Prom Shoes - Simple Tips On How To Find Them

You've spent countless hours searching for the perfect prom dress, and finally found it. Now you need to find the perfect shoe to go with your dress. But it doesn't have to be hard! All you need to know is a few fashion tricks, and the perfect prom shoe will be yours.

The most important thing to keep in mind is comfort. It doesn't matter how amazing and fantastic the shoe that you pick is - if you are unable to walk by the end of the night, it was the wrong one! How can you look at your best if your feet feel like they are about to fall off?

High heels are a common style of shoe, and for good reason - they make your legs look longer and slimmer and force you to keep good posture. But you don't need to go ridiculous with the heel height. Two-inch heels are more than enough to give the desired effect while saving your poor feet.

If you are used to them, strapped dress sandals are quite popular and can be worn with most dresses. But they can be a pain to wear - you may find it more comfortable to choose a dress shoe with an enclosed toe. If you get an enclosed toe, make sure they have a soft, cushioned upper lining (leather is preferable).

Another option for shoes that are extremely comfortable to wear are ballet shoes. Unfortunately they are only suitable with full skirts (they just don't look right with tight fitted dresses).

It probably doesn't need to be said, but do ensure that you pick shoes that are the correct size for you. Shoes that are too big or too small will never feel comfortable, and a shoe that is too big could leave you with blisters or even come off at an embarrassing moment!

Once you have decided on your shoes for the prom, make sure you wear them in before the night. The easiest way to do this is to wear them around the house for an hour or so each day for a week. If you aren't used to the style of shoe you bought, this also gives you a chance to become used to them.

One final tip; it can be difficult to find a colour that matches exactly, so you will have two options. You can try to find a complementary colour (for example, black to go with a dark coloured dress), or if the shoe is the right type you can dye it to match.

If you decide to dye your shoes, remember that dyed items look different indoors compared to outdoors. For example, shoes dyed grey may take on a purple tone outside. There is nothing that can be done to stop this, so be sure to tell your dyer if the event is indoor or outdoor.

Jason Anderson has more shoe tips at http://www.prom-dress-envy.com/prom-shoes.html where you will find what you need to do to get ready for the perfect prom night.

Take Off Your Shoes, PLEASE!

Take Off Your Shoes, PLEASE!

By: Roxanna Ward

Tips to finally get your family to take off their shoes when entering home.
TAKE OF YOUR SHOES, PLEASE! By Roxanna Ward

Have you ever bodyslammed a guest and ripped off their shoes? Tossed an object at a family member because they forgot to remove their outside shoes? Maybe you have never gone to these extremes, but if you are looking for help in getting those shoes parked at the door, you have come to the right place.

We all know that the majority of dirt in our homes, comes from the outside. So, if we can simply cut down on the foot traffic we will have less to clean. Are you smiling yet, read on!

You need to first establish the difference between outside shoes and inside shoes. Make sure each family member has a pair for each purpose. Inside "shoes" can very from houseshoes to a particular pair of socks to going barefooted. Whatever each family member is most comfortable wearing is best. If they don't like them, youll never get them to put them on.

Next set up a place to park and swap. A bench is useful because you can sit on it for easy shoe swapping. Then simply park your shoes on a rug underneath the bench. If you don't have a bench you can use, get creative. Baskets, bookshelves and other containers will work as well. I once visited a friend who used an antique suitcase to toss shoes in by the front door. Whatever fits in well with your decor.

The final step is getting your family members to actually change their shoes. Do not worry too much about guests and other visitors. Over ninety percent of household dirt is caused by the household members. To encourage the swap, hide little treasures inside your families inside shoes. Little pieces of candy, a coupon for a special treat or a dime will work well. Tell your children that there may not be a treat everytime they swap their shoes. They'll have to make sure to always swap just in case. Because they will never know when you'll leave a treat or what the treat will be, they will be come more accustomed to swapping everytime they enter the house. This works well with husbands too, you just have to be a little more inventive with your treats. If you find that they are sneaking the treat before swapping their shoes, tell them to come to you after they have swapped shoes for their treat.

You'll find that after about 30 days of trying my shoe swapping technique, you'll have less dirt in your house. That's enough to make anybody smile!

How Can I Determine My Foot Pattern? [Foot Tips]

The majority of people have a normal foot pattern. The overpronation foot pattern is more common than the excessive supination pattern. Use the following tests to determine your foot pattern and to help you select the proper shoes.

Method I: Examine the wear pattern on the outsoles of an old pair of your shoes.
Normal Pattern: A wear pattern from the outside edge of the heel of the outsole toward the center of the outsole at the forefoot indicates a normal pattern.

Overpronation: Excessive wear on the inside edge of the outsole of the shoe indicates overpronation or "flat feet."

Supination: Excessive wear on the outside edge of the outsole indicates underpronation or the supinator pattern.

How to Shop for Comfort in Mens Footwear [Hot Tips]

How to Shop for Comfort in Mens Footwear

Fit, durability and style are the key factors to look for when purchasing mens footwear. The top criteria, however, must be comfort. No one is going to wear fashionable shoes for long if they are not also comfortable. Shoes that pinch, bind or cramp your feet can make you miserable, and can also damage your feet.

Shopping for mens shoes should always focus on fit and comfort first, and finding a fashionable, stylish brand second. Quality shoemakers know this and offer a wide range of comfortable footwear options. Brands that are merely fashionable are not going to serve you well if they don't fit right.

Shopping for shoes that are comfortable and also look good is easier than ever. In order to get a proper fit, you should shop for shoes later in the day, when your feet are larger, and be sure that the brands you try on aren't too tight. You should be able to wiggle your toes. You shouldn't hold on to the old notion of foot size - your body changes, and you really should get your feet measured each time you buy shoes. Also, make sure that you get both feet measured, as sometimes one foot is larger. The shoes should fit the larger foot comfortably.

How Do They Fit?

For the most comfortable shoes, you should try them on with the same socks that you will normally wear with the shoes. Make sure you try on both shoes, and walk around the store a bit before purchasing. Buckle or lace up the shoes as you normally would during regular wear. Make sure they fit and bend in the same places that your foot bends. Don't buy leather shoes that are too tight and expect them to stretch out and be more comfortable once they are broken in. They should be comfortable when you try them on and walk.

An experienced sales person in a store with a knowledgeable staff can help you find the right fit and the right styles for your needs. They will be able to steer you toward brands that offer special features for your personal fit needs, such as arch support, and proper cushioning.

Shoes for health and safety [ Buying Tips ]

Shoes for health and safety

Here are some tips for buying shoes that protect your foot health:

Size. Have both of your feet measured every time you buy shoes. Since your . feet may not be the same size, choose shoes that are 1/2 inch longer than your longest toe. Blisters, ulcers and bunions are often linked to shoes that are too small. Buy shoes late in the day . as feet tend to swell.

If the shoe fits, buy it!

Design. Don't let style alone guide  your choice of shoes. The inside of the :shoe should be soft with no inside seams or rough areas that can cause blisters or sores to form.

Material. Leather and canvas shoes are the best choices for letting your feet "breathe." They also bend with your foot, so won't rub and make blisters.

Tips for buying shoes that protect your safety include:

Design. Get shoes with closed toes and injury and provide support. The heel should be as wide as your foot, and no higher than 1.5 inches (3 cm) , to keep your ankles from twisting and your back from aching. Running or walking shoes tend to be more comfortable and can make you more sure-footed.

Sole. Soles that provide grip are best.

How to Pick the Perfect Shoes

How to Pick the Perfect Shoes

Are you looking for the perfect shoes you can wear this season? How do you pick the right shoes, though? Here are some tips for you to buy those perfect shoes:

- Find shoes that you are comfortable in. No matter how cute they look, if you are not comfortable in the, you will not wear them. And, if you don't wear them, you just wasted your money.

To make sure you are comfortable in the shoes you want, make sure you try them on at the store. If you are shopping online, make sure you find the correct size you need. Check with the web site's measurements, to make sure that the size you are getting is actually your size.

- Find shoes that match with different clothes. Even the best shoes will not be worn too match, if they only match one outfit. Make sure you purchase versatile shoes, that will match with different outfits you have.

The best colors for shoes that will match with many things are black, brown, grey and white.

- The more expensive they are, the more things they should match. Of course all of us own a pair or two of pink or red shoes that we love, but that don't match too many outfits. So, create a rule - the more expensive the shoes are, the more outfits they should match. If you find a $20 pair of pink shoes that you just must have, get it. However, if the pair costs $100, it should match more then just one t-shirt you have.

- Don't buy shoes that are extremely trendy. While they are really hot right now, they will be out of style next year. Instead, spend the money on the shoes that can be worn a few seasons.

Remember to pick the shoes that you are comfortable with, and they are stylish, but not extremely trendy - those are the shoes that will last for a while.

Choosing Your Vacation Walking Shoes

Choosing Your Vacation Walking Shoes
Author:  Peter Shannon

Carefully chosen walking shoes will make a world of difference on your vacation. Your feet are as unique as your personality so just any old shoes won't do.

Here are some tips to help you choose the right walking shoes for you.

Find an athletic store that has qualified people who can evaluate your walking gait. They can then point you toward a shoe that will match your style.

Your feet will swell on a walk. So pick a walking shoe that is about a size bigger than you usually would buy. Or, if possible, try on your shoes after a long walk.

Fit your shoes while wearing the same socks that you will be wearing on your vacation.

Consider the type of walking you will be doing. Hiking boots are good for poorly maintained trails, off trail or cross country hikes. But they are heavy and stiff. Stick with walking or running shoes for walks on paved or maintained trails.

Make sure there is room at the toes and the sides. Even a small amount of rubbing will produce blisters.

Cushioned shoes provide comfort and are great for non rugged walking surfaces. They usually have a little less support.

Lightweight is important when you are walking all day. You can afford to give up a little support for light weight when you are walking on pavement or maintained trails.

Avoid flared soles and heels that are more than an inch higher than the sole in front. These types of shoes are not good for a walker's gait.

You want a flexible shoe that will twist and bend at the ball of the foot.
If you have wide or narrow feet make sure that you get a shoe that is sized for you. Don't settle for a standard width shoe. You will regret it.
The success of your vacation can depend on having a comfortable pair of shoes to walk in. Take the time to find the right one. It is worth it.

Tips to Select the Right Shoes

Select the Right Shoes

Before we go into selecting the right shoes, let's take a look at what you need first.

Starting A Walking Program
Walking is a great way to add some physical activity for improved health and well-being. Shoes worn during walking need to feel good on the foot and provide adequate support for both the feet and the skeletal structure. Evaluation of individual walking patterns will assist with selecting the right shoe and help o make walking an enjoyable experience.

Do you need walking or running shoes?
Let's compare.
The development of running shoes has been guided by research data.
Walking shoes may have a more flexible forefoot and less cushioning at the heel which makes them  more level from the heel to forefoot when they are on the ground.
Running shoes include specialized featu'es to help people with abnormal foot patterns.
While walking. your feet can ' experience pressure up to twice your body weight.
Running shoes generally have: more cusrioning in the midsole to help diminish impact with the ground.
Walking shoes may cost less than running shoes.

Recommendation:
Running shoes may be a beHer option than walking shoes. especially if you have abnormal foot oatterns. will be walking at a fast pace or logging many steps.

When Should I Get NewShoes?
You should get new shoes when you start to notice less cushioning in the sale ofJhe shoe, which could be before the shoe appears worn-out. Reduced cushioning occurs after 400 to 700miles of use  (about 6 -12 months).

You should also get new shoes if you start to develop foot or joint pain.

How do I Select a Shoe Store?
Department stores often carry a variety of name brands in a variety of sizes for those with a normal foot pattern .
Stores specializing in walking and running shoes may be a better shopping choice for those with an abnormal foot pattern or foot width.

The cost of good walking and running shoes may range from $45 to well over $100 depending on the feaiures you need and where you buy them,

The cost of appropriate shoes is justified by the increased comfort ::md redLced chances for developing injuries.

What is a Normal Foot Pattern?

Heel Strike: When walking and running the normal foot part ern is to have initial ground contact with the outside edge of the back of the heel (supination).
Support Phase: When the foot is supporting the entire body weight the foot rolls toward the inside of your foot . (pronation) .
Push-off : Toward the end of the step, as the forefoot pushes off, there is again a slight movement towards Supination

What is Foot Pronation and Supination?

How does it affect your walking?

Pronation occurs when the bottom of your foot rolls toward the inside and flattens durirg the support phase of running or walking. Excessive pronation is often associated with "flat feet".

Excessive pronation results in increased foot and ankle movement and more time spent on the inside of the foot. Such excessive foot and ankle move- . ment can lead to injuries in the foot, ankle, and knee.

Supination occurs when the outside of your foot supports more of your weight. Excessive supination (supinator pattern) or underpronation is often associated with high arches.

Excessive supination results in spending the entire support phase on the outside edge of the foot.

Tips on Shoe Fitting [Tips]

Tips on Shoe Fitting [Tips]
Adapted from article by Bryan Billings (Certified Pedorthist)

How many times a year do you purchase a pair of new shoes? The following are a few tips and procedures which you should follow when purchasing a new pair of shoes. Forget which shoes Michael Jordan or the funky shoes your neighbour has. Shoe fitting and function is different for each individual.

Step 1: Know what you need the shoe for. Running, walking,tennis,squash,cross-training,etc. You must know what activities you will be needing the shoe for.

Step 2: Know your foot type.
Neturalfoot type: Shoes wear evenly throughtout sole. No visible upper breakdown. Individuals with an average arch height both weight bearing and non-weight bearing.Pronated foot type: Often a low arch weight bearing and a visible rolling in of the foot. Often lateral heel wear with medial too wear on the sole of the shoe. Upper of the shoe is distorted medically.Supinated foot type: Often a high arch, thick instep foot type with a wide forefoot. Foot often rolls out during walking, and the sole of the shoe exhibits lateral heel and forefoot wear with the upper distorted laterally.

Step 3: Match the activity with foot type and choose the appropriate type of shoe.

Look out for:

- Shoe should have a rigid heel counter
- Shoe should have a midfoot torsional stability device
- Proper toe spring, rocker sole
- A finger's width of room beyond the longest toe
- Appropriate width in both the heel and toe box
- Also know the difference between arch length of shoe

  * Foot length is the heel-to-toe measurement
  * Arch length is heel-to-ball of great toe joint measurement
  * Arch length of foot must equal arch length of shoe

Finally, ask questions and feel comfortable with the fit and your fitter. If not, please go elsewhere to look for a good pair of shoes that suit you.

You Want The Best Man Walking Shoes?

You Want The Best Walking Shoes? Find How
By Diana Claire

Walking not only healthy, but it can also make you relax. If
you have health problem or you want to have fit body, just do
some walking! You can do it a few minutes or hours in a day.
So, there is nothing bad with walking, except choosing the
right shoes. Choosing wrong shoes might cause you swollen, pain
or other uncomfortable problem.

As many of you has heard that walking and other outdoor
activities bring benefit to your health, but many of us neglect
the need for high quality walking shoes and apparel. Surely,
don't think that when you participate in a low impact sport you
don't need right shoes. Whether you work out three times a week
at a gym, or you spend every evening taking a nightly stroll,
you need to protect your feet if you want to keep working out.
Get the right shoes for your own good.

Although you can wear any kind of shoes, but you have to
remember that not all shoes is good for you. Your foot and your
walking styles are different. No one has the same way. That's
why you have to find your own walking shoes. Check it out how!

These tips will help you selecting the right shoes for you:

- Choose for a low, supportive heel that rounds or bevels in.

- Find a flexible sole and more bend in the toe, so you will
able to twist and bend the toe area.

- Look for a shoe that is light weight and breathable

- Make sure the shoes fit properly. There should be a
thumbnails width or about a half inch between your toes and the
end of the shoe.

- Shop for shoes after walking or at the end of the day, when
your feet may be slightly swollen.

- Wear the same socks you will be wearing during your walks
while fitting the shoes.

- Try to walk around while fitting. If possible a few minutes
on hard surface.

- Wear your shoes in the house for a few days to try them out.
Don't go outside until you are sure the shoes are going to work
for you

Do those tips help? An investment in a good pair of walking
shoes is an investment that will last for a long time to come.
There are a great deal of delicate bones in your feet that need
protection and support. The last thing you want to do when you
make the decision to start working out, or to increase your
daily workout, is fail to protect your feet. I can't tell you
how many times I have jumped into a new routine only to injure
myself because I didn't have the proper gear.

Depending on your age and your overall physical state, it's
important to check with your doctor to make sure that you're
not overdoing it. It's also a good idea to get a feel for the
type of shoes that best fit your foot. Nothing is worse than
wearing a tight fitting pair of shoes that leave your feet
aching for hours afterwards. When you give your feet room to
breathe and arch support, you can improve your performance, and
overall physical fitness level.

Okay, there you go! Find the correct shoes, and start to
exercise without worrying you might get hurt. Good luck!

Shopping Tips and Tricks to Finding the Perfect Pair of Shoes

Shopping Tips and Tricks to Finding the Perfect Pair of Shoes
By Shelley Costello

This article will provide you with some useful shopping tips and tricks to finding a perfect pair of shoes.

Following a recent advertising campaign I asked a number of women what information they would find most useful about womens shoes.

After collating the feedback received the majority asked for:-

How to find the right size and width
How to find discount or inexpensive designer shoes
Assurance of return policy/shipping service etc
How to choose fashionable shoes that are comfortable
Reasonable priced shoes without searching all day to compare prices
Quality - how to recognise poor quality shoes

HOW TO FIND THE RIGHT SIZE AND WIDTH

Know your shoe size and always choose a pair in your true size.  The size you usually wear.

Most online shoe stores offer half sizes.

Unless the store is in Great Britain or Australia, most online shoe stores list their shoes in US sizes.

Check your country shoe size.  For instance I live in England and my size is UK 7.  In US this would be a size 9.5 and European size 40.

Not all online shoe stores offer narrow or wide width shoes.

If you require a narrow or wide width shoe try to choose stores that provide these.

It would be disappointing to go shoe shopping and find a pair of shoes you love only to discover the store only offers standard widths.

HOW TO FIND DISCOUNT OR INEXPENSIVE DESIGNER SHOES

The beauty of online shoe shopping is that the majority of the top stores offer up to and more than 100 designer branded shoes.

It is unrealistic to expect to get yourself a pair of Gucci shoes and only pay $30 for them.

However, there are shoe stores that offer such designer names at far lower prices than you would expect to pay at a boutique or mall store.

There are sites that have unique partnerships with designer houses and only offer end of season or discounted items.

Be very wary of doing random searches for designer shoes online.

The increase in fake or replica items is on the increase.

You might end up paying a little more than some of these sites offer.  However, shopping with a reputable store will ensure you get what you are paying for and not some fake or replica item that will only be very poor quality.

Sadly sites offering fake goods are
only after your money and not to give you any customer satisfaction in terms of service or quality product.

ASSURANCE OF RETURNS / SHIPPING POLICY

There a few top stores that offer free shipping [usually within the US or their own country] and free returns.

Stores usually only charge for worldwide delivery.

Always check the return policy before actually paying for your shoes.

Reputable online stores offer excellent customer service and make great effort to ensure their customers are happy.

They give you fast delivery and a free or inexpensive return service.

HOW TO CHOOSE FASHIONABLE SHOES THAT ARE COMFORTABLE

Almost all top internet shoe stores offer designer and branded shoes which means they are well made and have comfort elements taken into account.

There will always be reports out there that high heels will ruin your feet.

A poor quality pair of any shoe including high heels certainly will but you can be fashionable without sacrificing the comfort and health of your feet.

Current fashion spreads across an enormous selection of styles which means you don't have to have towering high heels to be fashionable.

Wedge heels are very fashionable at the moment.

Due to the fact that you have a wedge heel rather than a spike or narrow high heel they are very easy to walk in.

You won't feel like you have the height they actually are.

Wedge heels give you all the benefits of high heels such as lengthening and slimming the look of your legs and lifting the posture of your bottom.

They also come in closed toes, sandals and lots of different colours and textures with ankle ties or straps.

High heels will always be fashionable and wedge heels are a great way to get the heel without the wobble if you struggle to walk in heels.

Sabrina or kitten heels are quite in vogue.

The heel is only up to a couple of inches in height.  You do still get the heel benefits but are extremely comfortable and easy to walk in.

Flat sandals or flip flops will always be comfortable if they are well made.

If you don't fancy being completely flat you can get wedge flip flops or small heeled sandals.

A shopping tip to remember with sandals is to choose something that flatters your feet.

If you have long toes or feet, choose a flip flop that has some detail at the centre of the thong.  This draws the eye away from your toes and creates width rather than length.

Sandals that have a strap or band across the foot to reveal your toes will draw attention to your toes.  Trying sandals that have a thong style will reveal more of your foot.

Shopping tips show that an ankle tied sandal which will draw attention to your legs as well as your feet.

Loafers or slip on flat shoes are always comfortable.

Shoe shopping trends show that indian style satin slippers are extremely fashionable at the moment you can choose a few pairs in a variety of styles and maintain the flat heel.

A good shopping tip is to choose one with a genuine leather hard sole.  The quality is better and they won't fall to pieces after short while either.

Mules and pumps are becoming more popular and designers are creating collections of colours and styles in these ranges.

REASONABLE PRICES WITHOUT SEARCHING ALL DAY TO COMPARE PRICES

Top online shoe stores are extremely competitive.

Behind the scenes each store will compete for certain key words that their visitors search for.

For instance if you are looking for a flip flop and go to your search engine and type in 'womens flip flops' you will see pages of listings to choose from.

Each company's listing has competed against the next to get higher up on the search engine page.

Their listings then entice you to click on their listing.

Just because you click on the top listing doesn't mean you are getting the best store for womens flip flops.

It just means that particular listing has competed better for that particular word and got to the top.

Unless you have purchased shoes online and know of a few reputable stores, its best to check out a guide or read up on what to look for.

Prices vary enormously online.  The top online stores remain at the top because
they offer their customers low prices and quality products.

These stores will regularly offer sales and maintain low prices.

Again, don't expect to buy a pair of Gucci shoes for $30.  You can expect to get shoes far cheaper than in the stores at the mall and a greater choice of quality designers and shoes in general.

A good shopping tip is to shop around the top online shoe stores.  All have regular sales and heavily discounted lines.

HOW TO RECOGNISE POOR QUALITY

Due to the fact that online shoe stores only offer branded items, you can be assured of the quality.

A good shopping tip is to look at the shoe images on the sites you are shopping at.
They should be clear and a description and larger photo available for you to view.

Don't waste your shopping time buying shoes from sites that offer little or no choice in terms of both styles and sizes.

The store doesn't have to be the largest out there but any store should offer you a good selection to choose from.

The quality of the site itself is also a good indication on what you can expect in terms of service and value for your money.

If you find it impossible to locate the policy, terms of use or contact us page try and avoid. Its important to have clear policies.

A shopping tip to remember is the more customer service benefits you see the better your overall shopping experience will be with them.

IMPORTANT TIPS

Shopping tips are important if you want to do this in a breeze.  Try to decide what you want before starting out and remember some of the things outlined above.

Payment is an extremely important factor and you should never give your credit card or personal details if you are not on a secure site or subscribing to something.

An accurate way and most important of the shopping tips is to check that the payment page is secure is to look at your browser.  It takes a second.

The browser is the white box you see at the top of the web page beginning http://www.thenameofthepage.com

When you have selected  your item[s] and click to checkout the browser screen should change to https://www.thenameofthepage.com/paymentorcheckout.html

Or something along those lines.

What is important is the little letter s.  This means you are on a secure page to provide your payment details.

If you note these shopping tips your online shoe shopping experience will be a good one.

Large Size Shoes Don't Always Have To Be Uncomfortable

Large Size Shoes Don't Always Have To Be Uncomfortable
By Peter Crump

Just because your feet are larger than the normal size of shoes that you see in the regular stores doesn't mean that you have to pay exorbitant prices to have special shoes made just for you. Many online retailers specialize in large size shoes for both women and men and they are no more expensive that what you would pay anywhere else. Large shoe sizes from 9 to 14 are hard to find sizes and there are women who do have frustrating searches to find the right shoes.

Sometimes a search for large size womens shoes results in buying a large size man shoes just to get something comfortable to wear. However, when it comes to dressing up for an evening, these large size shoes are often not appropriate or stylish enough to suit a dress or skirt. If you are wearing slacks you might get away with wearing a shoe style designed for a man, but you would probably spend your time trying to hide your feet.

Women like to have fashionable shoes to suit every occasion. Small strapless designs and sandals are available in large size shoes and you don't have to scrimp and save to buy them. A man, too, likes to be able to buy large size man shoes to suit different occasions, such as dress shoes, slip on styles, sandals and tennis shoes. What person would want to go jogging with a large pair of laced up shoes? The various brand names do make the larger sizes in womens and mens running shoes.

Sometimes when you order online for large size shoes, you may not always get what you want if it is a popular design. If the shoe style or size is on back order, then you may have to wait before you receive it. The site will give you an approximate date when you can expect to receive your order.

With large size womens shoes, you also have to realize that the same size may not fit you in every design. If you need a wide shoe, it is possible that large size shoes that have elastic in them will suit you just fine. With high heel large size shoes, though, you may need to order a larger size than you normally wear because of the design.

Don't complain about the large size of your feet- there's nothing you can do about it. You just have to get the large size shoes to fit them.

Even though you have large size feet, there are always large size shoes to suit you. You just need to know where to find them.

Men's Fashion Tips: Details that Define Quality in Men's Dress Shoes

Men's Fashion Tips:  Details that Define Quality in Men's Dress Shoes
By Leroy Fong

Every man should know the mens dress shoes details before even considering buying their dress shoes. It is important to understand that these details define the quality in the shoes.

Instead of repeated spending on replacing damaged dress shoes, it pays to have a few quality ones that can last for years. The high quality mens dress shoes are eventually going to be more cost efficient than the cheap poor quality ones that are not made to last.

Mens dress shoes details are the foundation in building and shaping the dress shoes. It provides the comfort and firmness within that men are always sensitive about. Let us begin going through the mens dress shoes details:

Leather

Most mens dress shoes are made of leather. It is important to know what constitutes good leather since this material covers about 80 – 90% of the dress shoe.

Leather quality is graded from 1 to 5 with 1 being the highest quality. However, we can never find these grading on the dress shoes and neither would the sales personnel at the shoe department know.

Generally, base on laymen's sight and touch, we focus on a smooth with consistent fine grain on the leather for mens dress shoes details. The leather should feel rich and supple.

A good example of good quality leather would be napa, a type of calfskin. Calfskin are fine leather from skin of young calf or even lambs. These hides have fine grains and shines with high polish.

All leather hides naturally have blemishes or scars on them. The high quality leather will have little scars on it and hence the higher price. The difference in durability for high and low quality leather is small in variation so it is not a determinant in the pricing for leather mens dress shoes.

Blemishes on leather dress shoes can be hidden by using sealant products. It smoothens the leather and cover-up the blemishes. Therefore, if the leather itself has less polished finishing (i.e. glassy finish) or as naked as it is, it represents lesser possible concealment of blemishes.

One of the most important mens dress shoes details lies on having high quality leather that has minimum blemishes and also barely touched-up with any artificial sealants.

Still it is difficult for any layman to assess the quality of leather unless you really know leather very well. Instead of trying to assess the leather itself, the focus should be more on the construction of the mens dress shoes.

Mens dress shoes details start from the inside since dress shoes are made from inside out. Blemishes and faulty workmanship are usually concealed on the outside. So focusing on the inside will allow us to find difficult areas of cover-ups.

An important point of focus is the insole. High quality mens dress shoes have insoles made from leather rather than layers of cardboards. These leather insoles are durable and prevents unnecessary foot odor because it allows the foot to breathe and absorb perspiration.

It can also be easily replaced when worn out as well as helps in shaping the bottom of the dress shoes which are not possible with cardboard insoles.

Lining

Leather is still the focus here. High quality leather should still be used to work on the lining. A good example of such leather would be calfskin.

Make sure that the lining is smooth at the folds around the seams and edges. Fine stitch is important along the lining because a fine binding and clean finishing defines the workmanship of the mens dress shoes details.

Stitching

Stitching is something that is not usually noticed among mens dress shoes details. We would recommend careful inspection of it.

Good quality stitching on mens dress shoes should be as inconspicuous as possible. It should be concealed from the top to the bottom of the dress shoes.

Remember to ensure that the inside of mens dress shoes do not have any exposed knots because these can cause a lot of discomfort for the wearer.

On the sole, a welt finishing involves stitching the leather in between the edge of the sole and the turned-in edge of the upper. These stitching should be hidden within the leather and should not have any loose ends revealed.

Soles

Soles are the foundation of mens dress shoes details. It is the easiest to wear out from walking. A good investment for mens dress shoes would be having leather soles. One good point about leather soles is that it is definitely more formal and refined looking than rubber soles.Leather soles are usually tanned to make it more lasting. The light tanned hue on the sole avoids possible cover-up of blemishes and scars. It also avoids exposed stitching. The stitching along the soles should be well-hidden under the channels cut within the soles. These represents the quality required for mens dress shoes details.

The soles can be made into various layers, from single to three, and it all depends one's personal choice, or to fit the formal dressing.

Make sure these soles are shaped as closely as possible to the foot to assure comfort for the wearer. Dress shoes soles should never be glued to the shoe. We should expect stitching around this area. It allows possible changing of the soles when worn out but not for those with glued soles.

Heels

Another important aspect about mens dress shoes details is the heel. Leather comes into play again. The heels are actually layered with leather and nailed together with brass pins.

This creates a tight reinforcement for the leather layers to create a cushion effect as well as sustainable support around the heels.

Make sure the heels are not oversized as this disrupts the balance for the mens dress shoes and can make walking with such heels very uncomfortable. For added durability, some heels are further attached with brass tacks to the sole.

Another basic color men's dress shoe is chestnut, a richer shade of brown that resembles a deep wood grain tone. This very classy men's dress shoe looks great with tweed, silk or woven fabrics, in all earth tone colors. White is another classic, though less common, basic men's dress shoe color.

Men's quality, white, Italian leather dress shoes can really set off a nice suit! It's like a statement shoe. It can pull an all white suit with any color of dress shirt together seamlessly for you. It's also a great looking "accent" shoe, too. A black and white coordinated suit looks great. The above outlined shoes are your basics, they are foundational, as well as highly functional, when it comes to what color dress shoes all men should have.

Now let's look at a few of the more "uncommon" color men's dress shoes. These shoes are for those special occasions or when you want to step outside the lines just a bit. Burgundy is an excellent shoe color choice. Burgundy can coordinate with black, brown and even tan as long as you have a burgundy-toned belt, shirt or tie.

Oxblood is another men's dress shoe color choice. It is a more moderate shade of reddish brown that looks good with earth tone suits as well as black suits. Taupe is a brownish gray and does go well with earth-toned suits, giving you yet another uncommon dress shoe color choice.

Now if you really want to knock some socks off, consider purchasing a pair of Italian leather dress shoes in black and white! They look great with a black and white coordinated suit. There are other men's dress shoe color options. These are usually special order items and worth the price for a good pair of quality designed Italian leather dress shoes. All men should have a choice of color and quality in the shoes they wear. Color gives men more options, quality means they will last!

Are Men's Designer Shoes Worth The Cost?

Are Men's Designer Shoes Worth The Cost?
By Gregg Hall

Shoes tell a lot about a person. They are just as important as any other part of a well thought out wardrobe. A pair of poorly designed or cheap looking shoes will give the impression that the wearer has little regard for his appearance, even if he is wearing the latest fashion in clothing.

It is important to keep in mind that it is not wise to blindly follow the latest trends. Just try to find a stylish, comfortable pair of shoes that will compliment your already existing wardrobe. Choose something that appeals to your individual taste.

There are many benefits in choosing to invest in a quality pair of men's Italian designer shoes. Not just the fact that they will compliment a well thought out wardrobe. Designer shoes are a valuable investment because of the quality of the materials used in their design and the research that goes into making them functional and comfortable.

My father once told me, "A good pair of shoes is never cheap and a cheap pair of shoes is never good." I think that is good advice for anyone male or female.

The materials used are usually of the highest quality kid leather. This makes the shoes light and flexible yet sturdy. There are many extra features that are included in the design of the shoes. Among these features are specially designed heels to educe pressure on a man's heel, non-slip soles to provide safety, added room in the toe box for comfort and anti-sweat soles to reduce sweating and prevent foot odor.

Italian designer shoes are very popular for their well-crafted look and stylish presentation. There are many different styles of shoes, designed with different men in mind. It is very easy to find a shoe that will suit both your taste and your budget.

With many online stores available, choosing a quality pair of Italian Designer shoes that appeal anyone's taste has never been easier. You can shop from your own chair, in the privacy of your own home without going running all over town looking for good quality designer shoes. That is an advantage more now than ever with gas prices as high as they are.

A pair of designer shoes is well worth the investment. Since they provide quality, style and comfort, it is important to keep in mind that you only get what you pay for. If you want top quality then you must be willing to pay a little extra. Italian designer men's shoes should be part of any sophisticated man's wardrobe, are they in yours?

Large Size Shoes Don't Always Have To Be Uncomfortable

Large Size Shoes Don't Always Have To Be Uncomfortable
By Peter Crump

Just because your feet are larger than the normal size of shoes that you see in the regular stores doesn’t mean that you have to pay exorbitant prices to have special shoes made just for you.

Small strapless designs and sandals are available in large size shoes and you don’t have to scrimp and save to buy them.

Don’t complain about the large size of your feet- there’s nothing you can do about it. You just have to get the large size shoes to fit them.

Even though you have large size feet, there are always large size shoes to suit you. You just need to know where to find them.
